Average Lifespan of Animals

I’m not sure when this one came out, but my research shows that having been created for Compton’s Pictured Encyclopedia it was anywhere from 1922-1968.  My guess is one of the editions from the 1950s.  Regardless, this is a great graphic for visualizing the lifespans of different animals.  The numbers on the timeline correspond to years and while it’s not as accurate or comprehensive as we might be used to today, it’s fun too look back at the evolution of graphic data displays.
