“World War veteran, Bonus Expeditionary Force.” Scene from the “Bonus March” on Washington, when thousands of veterans converged on the capital in 1932 to demand cash redemption of their WWI service certificates, a bonus that wasn’t supposed to be paid until 1945. Harris & Ewing glass negative.

I love not only the snapshot of the office at work and the technology these ladies are using, but little details like the full hat and coat racks and open windows with fans blasting in late November!  Let’s not even bring up how much “computing” has changed in the past 90 years…

Propaganda: A Short History 

So what do Walt Disney, Adolf Hitler, Dr. Suess, and Pope Gregory XV have in common?  All were exceptional creators of propaganda.  Propaganda is the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor with the express purpose of either helping or hurting an institution, person, or cause.  Today’s inforgraphic takes a brief look at the history of propaganda from the 17th century Catholic Church through the 21st century and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) with a special focus on contrasting World War II propaganda pieces.
